Treesdale – A Country Club and Also The Beautiful Community That Surrounds It

Joseph Trees assembled many farms in Pine Township and Adams Township

Before it was a golf course and housing development, the property was owned by millionaire Joseph C. Trees, a well-known oil driller. In 1929 Trees and his wife moved to a Mediterranean style manor, which still exists and is visible from the road next to Pine-Richland high school. Then he began purchasing the nearby farms.

By 1949, the Trees family acquired 2,600+ acres in Pine Township (Allegheny County) and nearby Adams Township (Butler County). This farm was named “Treesdale Farms.” Each of the parcels he purchased had separate entrances with stone pillars and iron gates. Today, in a nod to tradition, each of the neighborhoods in the community has attractive entrance monuments that identify their unique names.

In 1990, Treesdale Farms was sold to The Trees Development Company. Soon after, ground was broken on a 1,430 tract for a 27-hole golf course and residential community. This is how the community of Treesdale and the Country Club that bears the same name was born.

Today, the 1000 home community is divided into 20 unique neighborhoods. Housing styles range from single-family town houses and cluster patio homes to houses and even estates-style properties. Prices of the homes range from entry level custom homes to over $1 million. The community center is conveniently located in the center of the development and is accessible to most of the neighborhoods by walking paths. Amenities at community center include an outdoor pool, tennis courts, a workout room, basketball and volleyball courts, four soccer fields, walking paths and several large community rooms. 

Residents of  Treesdale  have access to additional activities including digital photography classes; science classes for pre-kindergardeners; picnic and swim nights for the family; a Treesdale anniversary party; and in December, an evening with Santa. In addition to the plethora of activities, another benefit of being a part of a planned community is that it fosters a sense of community, togetherness and cooperation among families. 

Next, there’s Treesdale Country Club. Membership here is separate and distinct from the community association. In other words, not all the residents of the community choose to join the country club.  The country club features a Arnold Palmer-designed 27-hole championship golf course, a driving range, a swimming pool, tennis, dining facilities, a fitness center and more.

Treesdale is easily accessible from Mars, Cranberry, Warrendale, Richland, Pine, and beyond. Thanks to the Red Belt, Route 28 and Route 19, there is easy access to I-79 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. If you have shopping in mind, it’s a 15 minute drive to the shops along McKnight Road and the world class Ross Park Mall.

Treesdale’s youth attend two different school districts, depending on whether the residence is located in Pine Township (Pine-Richland School District) or Adams Townshp (Mars Area School District). There are also numerous highly-rated private schools in the area.
