About McCandless Township

McCandless Township has many faces. Quiet, well-established bedroom community; home to North Park; medical center; houses of worship; new, upscale residential developments; and exploding commercial corridor. There's even a college here.

These days, all eyes are on McCandless Crossing, a major development that is bringing new commercial, residential, and entertainment opportunities to area residents. Eventually, it will feature over 1,000,000 square feet of business, entertainment, medical, and residential space. McCandless Crossing actually stretches across the east and west sides of major traffic artery McKnight Road.

While it is a large development, it also fits nicely into the surrounding scenery. It sits adjacent to major local institutions like LaRoche College, and the UPMC Passavant Hospital. Retail locations in McCandless Crossing already cover nearly every interest, and there's still more to come. Visit major chains like Lowe's and Dick's Sporting Goods. 

You'll also find plenty of culinary variety, with Bonefish Grill, BJ's Brewhouse, Longhorn Steakhouse, and of course Gigi's Cupcakes. After you pack on the calories, head over to L.A. Fitness where you can burn them off. For coffee, you can't miss Convive. Of course, there are also plenty of great homes available all around the town of McCandless. When you live in a close-knit town located near a big city, you get the best of both worlds. One of the largest remaining vacant parcels in the township has become a very upscale neighborhood called Park Ridge.

McCandless Township is home to a number of religious institutions. Just West of McCandless Crossings sits Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. The building is new and it is beautiful. Don't miss their annual festival, typically held over Labor Day weekend. The Providence Heights Alpha School is a highly regarded school providing Catholic-based education for students in grades K-8. For those desiring to continue their Catholic education in high school, there's Vincentian Academy, also located in McCandless Township. 

McCandless Township is within the North Allegheny School District.
