Butler is located in Butler County, Pennsylvania about 35 miles north of the city of Pittsburgh.
Butler’s population is approximately 16,000. It was named for Major General Richard Butler, who fell at the Battle of the Wabash, in 1791. In 1802 a large number of German settlers began arriving; the county was then comprised mostly of German settlers.
